New Rocks!

I was able to attend two mineral shows this year, and I greatly expanded my selection of specialty rocks, geodes, agates and fossils for use in my mobiles (and jewelry). These stones add distinction and interest to my mobiles. Please check them out in this picture gallery.

Fall Art Fairs

Hey Everyone,

I’m participating in two upcoming art fairs and I wanted to invite everyone to stop by and check out my artwork.
This Saturday, September 19th, from 9am to 6pm, I’ll be participating in Excelsior Apple Day, which is an arts festival in downtown Excelsior, MN. Info on that can be found here: www.excelsior-lakeminnetonkachamber.com/apple-day.html.
Then, on October 10th and 11th, I’ll be in the Red Wing Fall Festival of the Arts; info on that event can be found here: www.redwingartsassociation.org/fall-festival/.

If anyone has any questions, just let me know.

Thanks!

Dave

Motion + Balance + Flame

For a recent submission for the Curse the Darkness show in NYC, I designed this new type of candle mobile. It holds small candles at the end of each arm, and features a gimbal mechanism that I employed to keep the candles level as their mass changes while burning. I’m pleased with how it turned out, and hopefully the selection committee at the American Design Club and Roll & Hill is interested. Regardless, this style of mobile is now in the repertoire!

Proposal submitted for art at the new Vikings Stadium

I just submitted my proposal for art at the new Viking stadium. The proposal included several examples of how my hanging mobiles could work in the new stadium, as well as a special kinetic sculpture based on the Vikings Horns logo. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Vikings fan, so hopefully they are interested!

Wish me Luck!

Both websites are up and running!

Hello Art Fans,
I finally got this website to a respectable state! Hopefully you like the new layout and enjoy checking out my work.  Be sure to also visit davidpmontague.com to see my other creative endeavors.  Any feedback on the new website(s) is welcomed and I encourage you to let me know what you think.

“To most people who look at a mobile,
it’s no more than a series of objects that move.
To a few, though, it may be poetry.”
